evening: i had to use the CD emergency recovery disk. i choose to reload saving the files, not reformat. all goes well and i end up with an working 98 system........so it seems. when i tried to reboot it only came back with a black picture, with this on it;

0 1 2 1039 7001 serial bus controller 3
0 11 0 1282 9102 network controller 11

initialize pci audio v1.8

device number (hex)=0f
vender id=13f6
device id=0111
pci config base io (hex)=e400
pci irq (hex)=0a
set sb port to i/o=220=a dma=1

just what the above is trying to tell me i don't know. i can reboot and go to safemode, however, i can not check the drivers while in safemode.

this is a powerspec.pc sold by micro electronics.

i have also looked in the bios and every thing seems to be loading....nothing said .....failed

sorry this is so long, i really do not know all that much and just wanted to give as much infor as i could........

thanks for any help.

It's telling you what each device is using for resources, and that it can't initialize your video (probably no free IRQ's) and it can't find the sound card.
Boot to safe mode, remove all com ports, your video display adapter(s), and your sound card.
Restart, go into BIOS setup, disable com 2, set "PnP OS Installed" to NO, set "Reset configuration data" to YES.
Restart, reinstall.
