Hey everyone, this is my first time on this board and I am in quite the pickle. I have 2 hard drives, and fortunately I was able to back up everything important onto my secondary HD before my primary pooped. I have a presentation I need to make for college tomorrow and my slideshow is on my 2ndary hard drive. i would plug it into another comp but that is the only one i have, this is my laptop!.

so long story short i went to fry's picked up a few parts:

ECS elitegroup RS400-A MOBO
Intel pentium D processor 830 lga 775 (800 mhz fsb, 2 MB l2 cache)
corsair 184pin ddr dimm 1 gb memory
western digital 80 gb HD

This is my 3rd computer that I have built and I installed everything correctly ( to my knowledge! ) and i went to boot it up and it boots up just fine, HD's on, cpu on, fans on... but no mouse, keyboard, nor monitor.

here's what i tried so far
i tried reseeding everything, but no luck
i took out my video card completely and just plugged my monitor into the VGA port because MOBO has onboard ati graphics, no luck
i tried clearing CMOS but nothin

Please help! I really hope that it isn't a faulty mobo because i dont have any time left! thanks in advance
matt

If it's ECS, there is a likelihood that it is defective. They are a bottom of the barrel manufacturer. If it was at Fry's in an open box, I can almost guarantee it's defective, they have a bad habit of putting RMA's back on the shelf without testing them..

Yeah I read up on some reviews about ECS, not too good to say the least. well i will be returning the board and going with MSI, a board that i trust.

anyways luckily i was able to grab my presentation off of my computer through the network so all good there. thanks for the help!
