It seems Dell has tried to encroach on our territory :)

Dell to Offer Barebone Systems (http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=2628)

... Dell will offer barebones systems based around the new Dell XPS 700. It will come with a case, Intel Pentium D 930 processor, 512MB of DDR2 memory, motherboard, and power supply. The barebones XPS 700 will start out at $1,120.

Isn't $1,120 a bit steep for a barebones system? I remember a thread asking for the build list for a $500 "Oblivion" Computer, and if I remember correctly, we came up with a good list.

I also wouldn't put much faith in the RAM they choose to put into it, as "no details on the motherboard or memory have been revealed" :)

They've had a server box with a dual core and two 80 gig drives and 512 ram for $499.00 for a long time.....

One stick of RAM---$50 One case and power supply---$100 One motherboard---$120 One Pentium d 930 processor---$200 Dude, I'm getting a Dell! PRICELESS!!! Edit: Did some looking around and it seems that the case/psu and motherboard would be at least twice what I put in above. I wonder when Intel is going to release that SLI/BTX board to the general public.

A case like that with a SLI-ready power supply for $100? I don't think so.
A SLI BTX motherboard for $120? I don't think so.
