Sony today did more weird stuff to assure that the public will despise them more than they do already. The MPAA is still not far behind in the race for public disapproval.
A Sony executive was quoted as saying the following: In refering to the PS3, " We believe that the PS3 will be the place where our users play ganes, watch films, browse the internet, and use other computer functions" "The Playstation 3 is a computer.....We do not need the PC"
And: "the Linux based operating system on the consoles hard drive will have enough processing power and nongaming functionalities to render traditional PC's...moot in the home."
I could not help but laugh Sony's arrogance. :)
