Any other shortcut deletes the "usual" way....Delete - Confirm - Gone

Still just beyond ridiculous... I'm happy with XP and probably will be for a long time to come.

I read an article on exactly this "feature" a few months ago. Seems like M$ has moved from not caring too much about security to caring too much about showy pointless security. Makes me feel all nice and warm inside. :)

I don't think that unauthorized deletions of shortcuts has been a huge security issue in past versions of Windows. Unless they filx the things that have been problems, such as too-tight integration between the OS and IE, for example, then what's the point of this "improved" security?

Or Linux's Delete - Gone.

:)

Keep in mind that it's still a beta... I'm sure the final product won't be this redundant :)

You never know, this sounds like something M$ would leave in.

Sure it is, that way when people complain about security in Vista they can say, "But we ask for confirmation for all of these things now!" It's a bit like putting seven flashy locks on your front door while leaving the window open.

7 is overkill, but still if I have just one, then it still gives me a chance if i made a mistake.

It looks like they're trying to emulate the "root" function of Linux... but not quite succeeding :)
