The quest for the ideal hose nozzle...

Ahh the very exciting world of garden hose nozzles. :) I am looking for a simple and good quality hose nozzle that will last more than 6 months and has a few key features.

I have a couple brass twist nozzles that work fine and last forever. However, when I'm washing vehicles such I prefer a trigger style nozzle. The problem is that most trigger style nozzles have the trigger on the back. When it lands in just the right position, which they seem to do 90% of the time, it ends up squirting me in the face. I just hate that.

I thought I had found the perfect solution a while back at Wal-Mart. I found a trigger style nozzle with one key difference. It was "hand gun style" with the trigger on the inside of the grip. No more unwanted outdoor showers!

Well, it was the perfect solution, while it lasted. A few months later the thing just started to disintegrate. Not long after, it completely stopped working. The thing was made of aluminum but it was full of cheap plastic parts.

So, does anyone know where I can find a good quality long lasting hand gun style hose nozzle?

I bought mine from Home Depot. Rotating head offers multiple spray options and the trigger is underneath like you want. I went for the more expensive unit, about $8 I think but it still works fine after two years of use.

Hah....one time I dropped the hose just right and it looked like I had wet my pants. The "suicide nozzles" are not bad. Those are the ones where the nozzle is tapered like an old fashioned fire nozzle and you twist it to turn it off and to adjust the cone of the spray. I like it because making it a fine point blasts off the bird crap and a wider spray gets the soap off.

my neighbor (the self-proclaimed lawn, garden and all things yard related king) has one of these (http://www.ultimatehosenozzle.com/).

Claims to have bought it 10 years ago and has never had a problem with it. It weighs a ton tho if you have to hold and use it if more than 10 minutes.

I personally prefer Jay's solution...its hip, its trendy, its just so minimalist and as an added bonus is environmentally friendly!

The trick there is to not be looking into the nozzle at the same time you are squeezing the trigger. :)

Thanks for the responses. It looks like the fire hose style nozzles are really popular. I may have to try one.
