~$150 Video Card

Hey guys,

I need something to replace my Radeon 7000 that I bought when a power outage fried my 9500 Pro. I think I want to stick to ATI, but maybe you can convince me otherwise. I have been looking at the Sapphire X1600 Pro 256MB and a Sapphire (or maybe Powercolor?) X800 GTO 256MB. I know the X1600 will have the support for the newer shader software and whatever, but how does it compare to the X800 GTO in gaming? I've read a nice mix of reviews on the X1600 Pro, leaving me with no clear conclusion.

The X1600 Pro can be had for about $100-$115 and the X800 GTO can be found for around $150. Just want to hear your guys' opinions on these two, or any other options in this price range. Gotta stay with AGP... I already priced out a new computer that I want, but it looks like that won't be possible in the near future. Thanks a lot guys, and again, I am open to other suggestions.

I know you want to stick to ati as I do, but may I suggest the nVidia 6600-6800 series? Real Cheap but good balance between power and capability.

The Radeon X800 GTO is the better gaming card in terms of sheer speed, but the X1600 Pro is a better IQ card especially when watching movies and motion pictures where AVIVO's abilities shine. If gaming is your thing, the Radeon X800 GTO should be your card if your power supply unit can handle it. Keep in mind that the X1600 Pro was made as a mid-range card while the X800 GTO was created to cater to the higher-end market.
