Transfer VHS tapes to computer?

How would you go about transferring VHS tapes to your computer. I have a bunch of old VHS tapes that I would like to transfer to my PC and then burn onto a DVD. What is involved in doing something like that, I'd appreciate any input. Thanks.

First thing you will need is a video capture card and video editing software. A video capture card may come with a basic editing program. I'm sure someone wil recommend a card to use.

I plan to do the same thing, but decided to use the ability of my camcorder to serve as the interface. Basically it goes VCR to camcorder to firewire in on the PC. In my research, this generally yields better quality that most entry-level video capture boards or USB devices.

I know the Hauppage is probably better, but I'd rather not spend $70+ since I don't have THAT many tapes to do and I won't watch TV on my PC.
