2x 7900 Gt's SLi!

Hi I wanted to know what other items do I need to make my 2 7900's Gt's work together so I may make them SLI.
I got the SLI bridge but I am wondering... Will I need a special monitor cable to hook the both of them at the same time with 1 monitor?

Any help is appreciated.

I believe when two video cards are running in SLI mode, only the primary video card needs to be hooked up to the monitor. The image to be rendered is transferred to the second video card via the bridge. All communication is done across the bridge, with the primary card determining which card renders what image.

So I just plug both of them in, then connect them via the bridge and then just connect the monitor cable to the primary card and thats it?

Sounds easy enough.. I guess I can give it a shot...

To utilize SLI, you have to have and SLI motherboard, SLI certified PSU, and two SLI Ready Video Cards with identical BIOS (which you seem to have).

Place them into the motherboard. Attach the SLI bridge. Connect the primary Video Card to the monitor. Boot it up. Install the drivers. Enable SLI.

Well after taking out the 7800 GTX and putting in two 7900's in the system they both showed up on the device manager and I tried to enable SLi in the nvida menu and its not there??:confused:

Is my motherboard SLi capable???
I did a search on google and it says its not?!?!?!:confused:

Am I doing something wrong?

It looks like your board cannot support SLI.

To support SLI, you need a Nvidia chipset motherboard - that's an Intel chipset. The only dual video card support you have with that board is ATI's Crossfire or 2 separate cards for multiple monitors.

?, I've never heard of this before. There are plenty of systems out there that use SLi Nvidia cards with AMD Athlon chips.

Glc was referring to the Chipset of the motherboard, and not the processor.

There are motherboards available for both AMD and Intel systems with Nvidia manufactured chipsets, which is needed for SLI.

Basically the chipset acts as an air traffic controller, a hub for all the communication between the various parts of the computer.
