View Full Version : Video Card problem!! Snow effect

So in some games I get a snow effect which is noticible in darker area's of games. What is this caused by???
I have a EVGA 6800nu which i unlocked the pipe and vertex
The clock settings are 325/700 at the moment which i think is stock.
Temps are 56c
Can somebody help me out?

Most likely it is a bad unlock. Artifacting can be a side effect after unlocking a card that should not have been unlocked. Unfortunately, there usually is not a way to "lock" the card back to the original settings. Its worth looking into though.
Your temp is fine, and stock speeds shouldn't cause any problems.
You could also try a driver update.

Ok, then that is the first step I would take.
My only experience with unlocking comes from a few years ago when modding Radeon 9500s into 9700s was popular. Back then unlocks were usually permanent, even if they went bad.
:)
Whenever you have ANY problem like that, the FIRST thing you do to troubleshoot is remove any overclocking and return the device to stock speeds and timings.
