I just took out my 40GB HDD of seagate ,model : ST340810A, and attached another blank 40 GB HDD of seagate model : ST340015A and started to make partitions in it.

After making partitions , I installed win98 in C: and then I was trying to update the Motherboard(D850MV) of the system with a motherboard CD that comes with the motherboard .

When I inserted the motherboard cd and tried to install some components , suddenly I got an error messege saying that something is wrong with my G: (CD-ROM) drive and then it said that I should insert my D850 MV cd and run ExpressInstaller.exe.

When I press the eject button on the CD-ROM drive, the tray doesnot come out.

When I right clicked the G : and clicked on eject, even then it didnot work.

when I replaced this HDD with my previous one, then I pressed eject button it worked.

I wanted to know that how come my cd-rom wasn't ejecting with my new HDD?

How to fix the problem of my motherboard cd because it is very important.

Is their a way to update my motherboard without the motherboard cd that comes with it?

Please help me out.

Yes, you can download all the drivers from Intel's website.

Ok,

What about my cd-rom problem ? Why wasn't it ejecting when I used my new HDD with Win98?

Try going into device manager and uninstall it, let windows find it again and see if it works...might just be a glitch when it installed the driver for it.

It also may need DMA enabled on it - or disabled if it's enabled. In 98, this is on the property sheet of the drive itself in device manager.
