Hey

I have ordered a complete system upgrade for my PC and the big build is scheduled for this saturday.

I have ordered a 160GB Western Digital SATA II Drive (WD1600JS) to be used as my system disk, and two 250GB Seagate Barracuda drives for my backup and storage drives. The motherboard i will be using will be an ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe

In a nut shell i am confused as to where i need to get the drivers for the western digital drive so that when i diusmantle my current PC i dont get caught with my pants down trying to install the new drive and windows!! I have read a fewa rticles and they say about native controllers and silicone images and stuff. I cant find a driver on the Western Digital website and the motherboard apparently comes with some sort of Nvidia RAID disk i think, but i just need to be sure what i am doing!!

So if some kind person could look at the drive and mobo specificartion and tell me if the drivers will come with the motherboard and i need to put them on a floppy before the build or whether i need to get the drivers from western digital directly i'd be most grateful.. thanks a lot awfully.

:)

That board has native SATA support so unless you're going for a RAID array you don't have to worry about drivers.

Guide to SATA here : http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=120379

If you are going for a RAID set up then use your present computer to read the motherboard cd and copy the RAID drivers to a floppy disk since you'll need them after you set up the primary drive.

I have an Abit Fatal1ty AN8-SLI and I had to download the latest drivers off the Abit's website and run the executable to arrange the drivers on a floppy for my raid system using the same HDs. Just sharing my experiance, not that it's any help...
