Hey Guys. My father-in-law is collecting pieces for a first and new PC build. He isn't hard core. He just wants a good stable system. He hasn't accumulated much just yet, but after listening to his desires and requirements I purchased him an ASUS A8N5X Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail from Newegg for Father's Day. Plan to pick up additional items for B-Day that is coming up shortly, etc. He should have all he needs within a few months to have a nice system. He had apparently purchased a hard drive previously, but he seems to think that it is not compatible with the ASUS board. I do not have time to research this and I can't imagine why, but just to be sure for him, Does anyone know of an issue here? The hard drive is a 160gb Seagate Ultra ATA/100pm 8mb cache. System requirements call for ATA/IDE interface (Ultra ATA 100 recommended) Sounds perfect to me.

It's compatible no problem.

It will work. The ASUS board accepts both SATA and IDE drives with no problem.
