Can someone please help me with this...
at my house we have 2 wireless computers hooked up to a 256 internet connection. I use this mostly for gaming but everytime the other computer is booted up i start to get a higher ping.. using chat programs like MSN is allright but as soon as it starts to even use explorer i get kicked almost every time. Is it possible for me to prioritise the 2 computers with the modem so i can at least get my ping low enough to not get booted from servers??

1st off, going to a wired connection wihle gaming may improve the situation a bit. Wireless is a shared technology, akin to a hub, and with multiple PCs on the wireless connection collisions will occur and can affect your overall connection speed.

As to prioritization:

What you are talking about is quality of service (QoS) functionality. If you have a router/switch capable of reading layer 2 priority tags (802.1q/802.1p functionality) then you may be able to pull it off. 1st thing to check is the above functionality is something your devices can handle.

You will need to get into the routers control panel to make any changes. Here's a link on how to access the control panel: http://myway.faq.frontiernet.net/faq_answer.asp?c=8&q=370

if i run through the steps on this page will it let me prioritise the 2 computers?? e.g. give the gaming one 60% and the other 40%

this router does not appear to have the granular level of control necessary to do any real restrictions/controls.
