Hi everyone, I'm new here and new to building a PC in general. I'm going to be building my own PC in a few weeks, but meanwhile, I'm still doing research on various video cards, processors, and motherboards. (I think what will be most troublesome for me is choosing a mobo and processor, due to possible compatibility issues.)

The first step I want to get out of the way though is the case. Now, I know that might sound weird and I don't exactly want to build my PC around the case, but I do have a few criteria that I want the case to fulfill.

1. The PC will be sitting on the floor, so I want something more taller than it is short.
2. Since it will be on the floor, I want the jacks (USB, firewire, headphone, etc.) to be at the top of the case as opposed to being closer to the bottom.

Those are the things that are bugging me about the case right now. I did a bit a shopping around over the net and in stores and I can't say I found too many options for #2. If anyone knows of a particular case that fits my preferences perfectly, please let me know which or point me to a site where I can find one.

Also, I'm still in the information-gathering/brainstorming phase right now, so I'm still open for all sorts of options and any recommendation is welcome. Thanks in advance!

[I figure I might as well combine the "new build" and "case recommendation" posts. So anyways, I'm basically planning on a machine that's gaming-capable without having to go spend more than $300 on a vid card, and SLI and CrossFire is pretty much out of the question. But I think what's most important is probably expandability.

Plans so far:
- 2 gb RAM
- 300+ gb HDD
- AMD cpu, dual-core over single-core, but depending on budget...
- 400-600W psu, not too much more than necessary]

Don't know if it's still available but I have an Antec P160 that is a full tower, all aluminum, comes with window or without and has a rotating jacks/buttons panel on top.

Yup, still available, but only with Window (w suffix)

this is the case I'm buying for my next build. It's a mid tower though so it might not be as big as you want

I started out looking at full tower cases, but I found some mid towers that looked good too, including the two above.

There's a bit of everything that I like on all those cases though. A combination of them all would be the best. Big and tall like the Thermaltake. Ports on the top corner like the first Antec. PSU on bottom like the second Antec.

Thanks for the recommendations.
