My intuition says that it's a virus attack, but nothing can tell any suspicious activities around. Features like Run, Search, Folder Options, etc. works fine. Task manager processes list shows no unusual programs. Hijack This and NOD32 also found nothing.

Programs running well, BUT, windows explorer works so slow when showing pictures thumbnails (seems like "hanging" for a not-so-short-time), copying files (also when right clicking), transferring files via bluetooth or infrared (seems like forever), or even closing the explorer window. And sometimes it's closing itself due to error.

Meanwhile, when I play movie file (.mov) in the harddisk with quicktime, an error window pops up and says something about no disk in the drive, and clicking "OK", "Retry", or "Cancel" is a futile action. The most suspicious one is while the win explorer opened, in a short period all the folders showing the internet explorer icon (the big blue "e"), and after all the folders are completely loaded, the icons return to normal "yellow folder".

If I may conclude, this kind of annoyance is focused on windows explorer, and not the functionality of the whole windows system, neither in all other programs - except the quicktime.

I've found this in 2 separate comps. Both are never contacting each other, but they are both accessing public's medias, like CDs or flashdisks. The comps was attacked by worm Brontox and Borax, and were succesfully removed.
Is there also a possibility of foul registry keys remain still that need a manual removal, rather than a virus attack?

Thx!

Yes there are two registry items you need to check for, if you haven't already.
...run regedit and delete the bron-spizaetus file in hkey local machine and tok-cirrhatus in hkey current user.
