I'm not terribly impressed with those choices - that's a low end machine for gaming.

Yes, we need brands and models, especially the motherboard. I'll tell you right now that the power supply in that case is trash.

If the motherboard supports dual channel ram, using just a single stick will hurt performance.

Thats a Turbocache video card - again, not good.

God....I saw the box....it had some kind of Warrior on the box....and it's on new egg....in the 80-90 dolalr range....not the MOBO....the MOBO is a Intel Smithfield I beleive.

Thats the processor, not the motherboard. That processor is probably the most bang for the buck out there, but I'm very suspicious of the rest of your components.

You know - it's a lot better when you ask opinions before you commit to buying parts, not after, because all we can do after the fact is tell you how you screwed up.

We don't bite or bark very loud, but we do need good info. Expect to pay a lot more than you may be planning on to build a proper gaming rig, just a proper video card will be at *least* $150.

i'm doing an overclocking build that that proc, and if you want your moneys worth, get a liquid cooling system or high end heatsink. as for gfx, i would recomend the 7600GT 256 as best value for money, unless you can get an X800GTO or XL, or even an XT (if you stretch) for under $200. And what make is your ram?

Can you return that motherboard? It's terrible. No such thing as a quality SLI board for that price. I'd recommend you find someone to build for you that knows decent components.

You DO realize you need a $90 power supply if you go SLI?

Why SLI anyway when you are looking at cheap video cards? SLI is what the big boys use to squeeze more performance out of high end cards by doubling them up - it's NOT something you even think about when you are doing a budget gaming build. Running 2 cards does not even come CLOSE to doubling your performance.

If you aren't going to build with quality components, you might as well just buy a Dell.

And no game is going to fully utilize SLI for quite some time, they're barely utilizing 8x pipelines.
