Virtual PC Is Now Free! (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtualpc/default.mspx)

Whether Microsoft virtualization technology is an important component of your existing infrastructure or you're just a Virtual PC enthusiast, you can now download Virtual PC 2004 Service Pack 1 absolutely free. Microsoft is also offering the free download of Virtual PC 2007, with support for Windows Vista in 2007.

Cool! I tried the trial a couple months ago and it was pretty good. Nice to see this as a freeware tool :)

For those that have never seen Virtaul PC...See the attached pic. I have my main XP running and a second XP and Win2k running all at the same time. Can switch between the screens....Its great for testing software. You can load IE7 beta for example - play with it and NOT save the "current state." You MUST have seperate keycodes etc....

The MS Virtual PC download page lists only XP Pro as supporting Virtual PC. Is this correct or will it also run on XP Media Edition? (I have the 2005 Edition.)

Also, has anyone had any crashes because of Virtual PC? I know that setting up XP for dual boot (not using Virtual PC) is just asking for trouble.

i am just guessing, but since Media Center is just a glorified GUI on xp you should be just fine. since its free, i would download it and try installing. if it doesn't work, you're not out anything except a little time

The original XP MCE was a modified Pro - but the new one is a modified Home.
