Do you think that the Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 will be selling out once its released on the market? I really want to get one when I upgrade my computer but I'm afraid the price will rise due to the demand. The reason I think it will be in such high demand is because its the cheapest of the conroe chips that provides 4MB L2 cache, is less than half the price of AMD FX-62 and outperforms it in many benchmarks. Any speculation over this would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

EDIT: BTW heres a chart of each one http://www.overclockers.com.au/image.php?pic=articles/489587/prices.jpg

I would imagine that it would be higher than that price listed. One, as you mentioned, would be supply/demand. Also, those prices are for 1000 unit lots, so unless you are ordering from a large place, they may not be able to afford 1000 of them and get the discount. Were talking over $300,000 worth of product... (plus 1000 of each of the others. the extreme would be a million bucks worth)

Oh I'm sorry, I didn't mean to imply that I thought they were going to sell for that price heres what the article says about it, "At an expected price level of around 360 US$ or 480 AUS$ the E6600 would cost less than half of an FX-62, and would deliver the same performance. In addition an E6600 will allow overclocking far above 3 GHz."

If you want to look at the whole article it's located here: http://www.overclockers.com.au/article.php?id=489587

Oh, yes, that's probably true - at least initially. I think if you find them selling between now and 27th, you'll pay that price (a tight supply). I think after the 27th, when they are officially released (so I've heard) they will come out in full swing and there will be more supply (and all stores will have them in stock for good)...and prices will come down.

The supply might be a little tight for the first couple months or so untill Dell, HP etc. get their inventories built up and get the initial rush of orders shipped.
