Sure they are fighting back..... So now all amd guys will change to intel. Then when its amds turn....back to amd it goes. What this means is that not all but most people who like one particular brand is because its got better performance, not just because they like amd or intel.

Oh and by the way, yeah that prossesor is amazing. Really good performance!!!!

is this going to be compatible with the old LGA socket boards, or is it going to be like AMD with the old 940 pins and the new AM2 sockets? (heres hoping for backwards compatibility)

The board must be a 975x or 965 chipset board. That doesn't mean exsisting 975x boards work though. Since the CPUs have drastically different power requirements, the VRM's (voltage regulartors for the CPU) have to be revamped to handle the lower voltages. Currently, the ASUS P5W DH deluxe is compatible and the Intel D975XBX revision 304. There's also going to be the ASUS P5B/Deluxe based on the 965 chipset. Other mobo manufacturer's will be coming too with 965 boards and revamping their 975X's to support soon.

O.K. Maybe it's not a glorified Pentium D ............... I would really love to try one of those suckers out but that price tag is killin' me !
I can get 4 CPUs for my builds for that price.
If business is good (this summer) I may get Santa to put one under the tree for me.

Heh, yeah the ASUS P5W, P5B Deluxe, and the Intel are over $250. I would think the regular P5B would be less :eek: I would imagine more budget orientated boards will come later. Kinda like how the 945 boards are $100-$125 for the general user and the 975X's for the power users are all over $200 now.
