Okay, so I disabled NAV stupidly to download something from the internet that I thought I needed but turned out to add a few adware/spyware programs to my computer. NAV recongnizes them, and tells me its removing the files... but it will come back a couple minutes later with the same alert and goes through the removal process again and again, which means its not actually removing the program I assume.

To the hijacking point, I have NAV:IS06 which allows me to block attempts at changing my home page, but everytime I open a new browser it always directs me to this site: http://www.sysprotectionpage.net/ and I cannot get it to quit doing it, no matter what I change my home page to. So my question is: what can I do to prevent my browser from getting hijaked?

Run the antivirus scan again in safe mode with system restore turned off. A lot of malware programs like to hide in restore points and reload themselves.

Or...

You could have a trojan that is bringing it all back in. Norton is notorious for not detecting trojans.

Your AV program is your own choice. My choice happens to be AVG free, for what that's worth.
