Thanks

Do you have a PCI-E motherboard? The 9600XT is an AGP card - the two aren't intermixable. What brand/model power supply do you have? Most of the newer cards have a hefty power supply requirement.

Yer I will have a PCI-E Motherboard as i am upgrading CPU and MB at the same time. I have a 400W Jeantech Powersupply which has got the PCI-E plug on it.

Does the Jeantech have a 24 pin main connector - and does it have dual +12v rails? What's the amperages on the +12v? It should have this info on the label. 400w is cutting it kinda close for a high power PCI-E card.

It looks like there's a hole between the X1800's and X1900's - the 200 quid figure is smack in the middle of this hole.

Yes, that is a proper PCI-E power supply and it has good specs. However, you have to ensure the card you get doesn't require more than a 400 watt PSU.
