sound issues

i'm having issues with sound ever since i bought my p.c. sound only plays on certain things, works with media players etc but not on things like java games/clips, movie trailers and a host of other things
any advice?:confused:

Welcome to PC Mechanic !! :)

Open your sound mixer (in advanced mode, if it has one) and check the volume settings for all the various sound types (midi, wave, etc.). Make sure they are all unmuted and have the volume turned up.
