Beware of Buy.com rebates

I got a good deal on a Plextor DVD/CD drive this week for $59 (after $20) rebate. Their webpage says the offer is good until 8/15/2006. I pre-registered for my rebate thru another company handling the rebates and their text says the rebate's only good until 7/31/2006.

On top of that I can't reach Buy.com about this because their email doesn't work and there is no customer support phone #.

I have always gotten my rebates from buy.com, but I have had to follow-up on most of them.

I'll look on a packing list from a recent order to see if I can find a phone #.

I don't use them new as much as I do Newegg, but I have been shopping with Buy.com for years now and never had a problem. In fact, I've shopped there enough (apparently) that they have given me several bonus coupons. I even got this vid card from them.

You have to be careful with rebates as many are place-of-purchase specific. The handful of items I've bought thru Buy that had a rebate, the rebate form And purchase has to be from Buy or it won't work.

It does state you Have To buy from Buy and register with Plextor (and other things) to qualify. If you went thru another company, you probably won't get the rebate thru them as that is not allowed.
