when i play the game team fortress classic and connected to a game server, I have a frame rate of 60. I have these two fancy sli/ pci video cards. shouldnt' the fps be alot higher? i get 100 fps on my other system with a Radeon 9500 agp video card. How can i get the maximum fps from these two high priced video cards? In my tfc folder I have opened the config file and entered fps_max 100 but my frame rate still displays 60.4 fps during game play. Is there settings for this video card someplace that will increase fps. These video cards in my machine act like they could get more fps during game play. can anyone give me some information or maybe post a web site for help>?

err it looks like you have vsync on. turn it off for higher framerates, but you might get tears in your screen.

vsync matches the fps with the refresh rate of the moritor and in doing so sacrifices fps for more fluidity. but after 60/70fps, you cant notice the difference so its really pointless, and just instead enable other things like AA and etc.

You don't need over 60fps, so don't worry about it. If you've got extra horsepower to play with do what 786ARS said - crank up the AA/AF and other settings.

Sorry, AA = Anti-aliasing (it eliminates the "jaggies" on edges), AF = Anistrophic Filtering (increase quality a bit on surfaces that are an extreme angle to you).

You'll find them in the game's options menu, otherwise you can force them on through the nVidia control panel (sorry, can't help you there, I don't have an nVidia card)

Sure thing. That's a great resource. They even have a HUGE document with all kinda goodies for Windows (tweaks, etc).
