Two Hardrives

I see a few builds with two seperate hard drives ie, a ~50GB cheetah/raptor and a 300GB+ barracuda. What kind of build would use this example. Would it be a medium-high end build, or a build that has already got the best CPU/GPU/Memory and has nothing better to spend it on?

Basically what are the advantages of using two hard drives and what kind of systems use them? (gaming/video editing/gaming & storage)

High end, SCSI drives tend to be about 15,000 RPM so faster data access, personally put Windows on the SCSI drive and "data" on the 300GB drive.

Some people also find it easier with windows running on its own drive. Also if you have to format for say virus reasons then you can wipe clean the one drive without worrying about your data being lost or trying to move all your data onto another drive for you to commence the format.

It is common practice to use the faster HDD as the primary drive to run the OS and any applications. Then you hook up any secondary larger HDD for simply storage purposes.

If you're running games would you run them off the smaller faster drive or the stroage drive. If so does this noticeably increase the performence of games?
