Linux and Windows

If I have either 2 seperate hds or 1 partinioned hd running both Windows and Linux, will I be able to access the file contents on the other drive or partition when running the other os. Also, if I have an external backup hd and another SATA drive with large files/backup on it. can I access both of these using either os or do I have to choose which one I want to access them and then I am stuck with that?

Linux and Windows can both read FAT32 partitions, so if you want to have data accessible to both OSes, then use a FAT32-formatted partition or drive.

Linux can read NTFS, but usually can't write. Windows is completely clueless when it comes to most Linux filesystems.

there is a beta version of "driver" for reading/writing NTFS under LINUX:

it's pretty good, so far.
