I just routinely started up my computer a few minutes ago, and it went to this screen (it said Windows XP in the upper right corner) before windows loaded. It said that Volume C was "dirty". It did 3 steps and said that it corrected the problem, and then windows started normally. Is this something I should be concerned about? Is this a sign of a crash in the works? This is the stock 40GB HD (PATA) that came with our Dell that we bought about a year ago. Just wanted an expert opinion on this. -Thanks

That was file corruption, and it ran chkdsk. You may want to boot into the Dell diagnostic partition and run hard drive diags. Hit F12 when you start it up.

I will do that next time I turn it on. Thanks!
