I brought home my office accounting computer. At home I have cable internet. My office computer is an old 500 mhz AMD unit without an ethernet outlet. So....I bought an ethernet PCI slots card and got a cable. I ran the cable from the old computer to my D-Link Router and I cannot get the old computer see the internet connection. I was on dial up at work. The computer seems to not accept the D-Link Drivers for the new ethernet card. Odd part is........the wireless laptop downstairs using Network Magic sees the old computer upstairs is in the network, but not functioning! So, how do I get this old computer to see and use the new ethernet card to get online????? Any help would be appreciated. I run XP on both computers.

First question is if you look in device manager does the network card show as installed and working properly? Did you load the drivers, and did they seem to successfully install??

KT:
The card does not show that it is active. It has the yellow thingy showing. I tried to load the CD with the driver and it says a part is not loaded and is showing Code 10. When I go to device manager, it shows that the Ethernet card is not functioning.

i had a PC that "likes" NIC cards in 1 and only 1 PCI slot, you might want to experiment with the different PCI slots and see if that resolves the issue.

What brand and model is the card?

Did you install the hardware and software following the manufacturer's directions? I recieved this error when I tried installing the hardware before the software. After reading the installation guide, I realized that the software should have been loaded before the hardware.
After uninstalling and installing the card correctly the device worked perfectly.

are you sure your loading the proper driver for your OS? You need to get the driver properly loaded, so if the cdrom will not work try downloading from the maunufacturers website
