Hi,
I wondered if there would be a problem if I do not load chipset drivers on new build. Every time I load them the machine keeps locking up, remove them and all is well again.
Bottom line is do I really need to load them, its an entry level asus build for internet and light work only.
What exact model motherboard, please?

System is as follows.
ASUS M2NPV-MX, 940 pin Sempron 2800, 512MB Kingston DDR2 533 (on the compatable list asus website), 80GB maxtor Diamondmax 10 SATA, sony dvd rom, and pioneer 111D DVD/RW.
Just windows loaded and everytime I load the chipset drivers lockup, they are the only drivers available so no newer ones to try.
Are there any flagged devices in device manager?

Sorry for the long delay in reply. No flags now, I individually loaded the drivers from the disc and all seems to be running OK. Does that mean I have loaded chipset drivers, or do I need do anything else. It is my understanding that as long as there are no flags in device manager my computer will function fully.
Yep, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Just make sure all your IDE controllers are running in DMA mode, not PIO.
