Hi guys. Hoping you can recommend a good desktop spec for playing world of warcraft. I used to play but after my PC broke down I bought a MacBook (doesnt play it so well). I'm itching to play again and wondering if I can get a cheap desktop for playing. I know bugger all about graphics cards and cpu's these days so hoping you can recommend something that will play it at a good setting. It's not exactly a new game so I know you don't need anything remotely hardcore.

Could you recommend the minimum specs I should be looking at? I looked at this on eBay... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AMD-ATHLON64-DUAL-CORE-3800-GAMING-PC-COMPUTERS-1024MB_W0QQitemZ260023324688QQihZ016QQcategoryZ179QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

My old PC is listed below in my signature and played the game pretty well with some minor slowdown with big group activities. So i'm assuming that eBay one will be fine..but is it maybe too much?

Thanks for any help! :)

These are the WoW specs : http://www.videogames.yahoo.com/gamespecs?cid=1990962391&tab=techinfo&page=0&eid=-1

That pc exceeds them easily and should carry you into a Vista upgrade with no problems but I'm not up on U.K. prices.
You're going to have to do a little comparison shopping to find out what the standard price is for similar PCs before you know if you're being charged a fair price for that one.

I think the price is a little high, the pc itself looks good and will outperform the game... but the price is a little high sice AMD dropped its prices.
Do a little research and see if u find something better.

Just buy something from Dell Outlet. You can get pretty good machines for ~$300 which includes the OS.

Hi
A new Dell or Gateway may be a cheap start, but if it's cheap it'll not have graphics abilities needed to game. If you can get a decent graphics card and add it to a cheap system, there ya go. Graphics, cpu, and memory total, pretty much in that order, are the main factors in a good game system.

There are a bunch of machines with pci-e slots, vid cards, Intel dual core processors, 1Gb memory and operating systems in the Dell outlet (http://outlet.us.dell.com/ARBOnlineSales/topics/global.aspx/arb/online/en/InventorySearch?c=us&cs=22&l=en&lob=DIM&MODEL_DESC=Dimension%203000&s=dfh) in the $300-$400 range. Upgrade the vid card if needed for more video RAM dependent games and you will have a much better machine than you could build on a tight budget. As far as that game goes it only needs 64Mb Video ram, so it will run on most integrated video just fine.
