Hi, we have just had DSL installed at my place of business. There will be three computers hooked up to the a network (including mine) It is a stone building and the plan calls for using a hub off of mine to go into the third office. Will the hub slow down the connection? Are there security issues with this setup? Thanks

1.) It all depends on the speed of your network, the speed of your hub, and how many users will be attached to it. A switch would be a better choice.
2.) The only security concern would be the ability for any user attached to the hub to monitor the activities of the other users or the ability to access other machines.
You should not use a hub off any computer. You should use a router with all computers connected to the router.

There is a router that connects the other two computers. However, the people installing it are trying to keep from having to lead a bunch of wire to the third. Is there any other solution?
Yes, you can install a switch at your computer, but you have to wire it this way:
Cable from the router into the UPLINK port on the switch
Cables from your computer and the 3rd computer into regular ports

Thanks a lot. What type of switch should I get? I guess I will wait and see if they are going to use a switch or a hub. Hub was the word used, and I presume they have one. If they use the hub and I redo it with a switch, will I basically just have to unplug and replug? Thanks again.

I found this one, is this what you are talking about and a decent one? Thanks

Yep, that's all you need. It doesn't have an uplink port, they are all autosensing so plug the cables into any port.

I got it and installed it Wednesday. It is working great. The biggest challange was wall mounting it in concret blocks. :)
Nothing that Liquid Nails can't handle :D
