Firewall Nightmare!!!

Ive got a NETGEAR DG834PN Router/Modem recently and i have one computer which is wired up to it, and one laptop that is wirelessly connected to it. If i use no security in the wireless net (i.e. no WEP encryption etc.) then everything is fine everything runs smoothly. However when i use WEP, i can connect via the laptop to the network but i cannot access any websites when i open up the browser (i use Firefox).
I figured maybe this is to do with the firewall, so i go to router settings and by default it blocks ALL inbound traffic. i try to delete this rule but it does not allow me. i tried adding a new rule that allows inbound traffic but i cnt see any difference!:confused: also when i try to add a new rule, it asks for the LAN server IP address. which i duno wat the LAN server is..im kinda confused about wat to do, please help!!!

That's because there is no set WEP key on the laptop that matches the WEP key set on the router. The LAN server is your gateway, (private DNS server, which is your router). You do not need to open or close any protocol sockets in the router's firewall, just leave it as default.

the laptop does have the same WEP Key, i know this because i am able to connect to the network, but i am unable to access the Internet when i open up the browser, but at the same time i can see that im connected to the network.

Hard reset the router, that's power cycling the router for about a minute or so to allow the router's CMOS to clear.

No, that's only a soft reset. A hard reset will return the router to factory defaults.

It sounds to me like something related to your DNS settings is screwed up. Can you ping an outside IP address (try "ping 207.46.19.60"), If it times out, then it is a problem outside the DNS servers which I would then assume has to be related to your gateway. If you can ping it, the DNS servers are not accessible.
