I have two connections for LAN on the back of my computer and I'm wondering what this can be used for and if I can use it for two connections to the internet (dsl) and if this has any benefits.

multiple LAN interfaces are commonly used for redundant links to the network for mission critical devices.

In your case, you could hook up one DSL modem to each ethernet port, but you will probably be disappointed if you were expecting a huge jump in performance. Each modem connection would have its own IP address and unless you have some software to load balance, disassemble and reassemble in and outbound packets you will end up using 1 line or the other.

Now there are situations where this can be done but it is usually in the realm of commerical entities. What can be done is 1 virtual IP address is created in DNS (usually at the line/service provider) that is, in reality, an amalgamation of multiple IP addresses. they then use a higher end router (talking to a higher end router) to multiplex and inverse multiplex the lines to increase the overall performance. However, this equipment is beyond the reach of your "regular" consumer's pockets.
