I have just built a new system, with a SeaGate 350GB SATA NTFS HDD, the problem is, only 127GB are being recognized by the computer.
I have tried changing the Drivers setting to LARGE in the BIOS but the computer won't boot unless its on AUTO.
This is the only HDD I have on the computer, it is bare with Windows Service Pack 2 installed.
Any ideas?
Does the bios recognize the drive as 300GB?

Does the bios recognize the drive as 300GB?
It recognizes it as 350GB yes.
Did you use a CD with SP2 already incorporated to do the install or did you install SP2 after the fact? What does Disk Management say about the drive?

I installed with a Pre-SP1 version of Windows XP Home. It is 127GB which according to SeaGate is missing the 48-Bit LBA files that allow the entire 320GB to be seen. However I am still investigating...Was just wondering if anyone else has had this trouble

Everyone with a large drive and a pre SP2 XP cd has this problem.
You can go into diskmgmt and create additional partitions.

Where is diskmgmt? and what if I want a single drive and not a drive with multiple partitions? If the answer is that simple, I'm gonna be mad :P Especially since there is an entire website dedicated to the problem and how you need to install a bunch of crap to fix it..

You'd have to Slipstream SP2 with your current cd or purchase XP w/SP2.
Or you can use Partition Magic.
Did you read the sticky thread that I linked yet?
