Printing to a printer behind a router

We have a LAN set up where all our computers and printers are behind a Switch. On one node, we have a router set up which services two other computers and two printers. My question is, how do I get the users who are directly hooked to the switch to see the printers that are located behind the router? Is there a setting in the router that will turn off all firewall protection?

Moreover, I'd like the Computers and printers behind the router to obtain their IP addresses from the switch - not the router they exist behind. This is causing problems with different subnets, etc. I know a solution would be to go out and simply buy a hub - but I'd rather get a solution that keeps this router in place. Any ideas? I am confused. lets make sure that we are talking the same topology.

Are like this:

internet -- modem -- PC's with printers -- router -- switch --other pcs

or

#2

internet

modem

router --- pc's with printers (with these attached to switch ports on router)
|
switch (with this attached to open switch port on router)
|
other PC's

if it is #2, then you should have no problems. Install the appropriate printer drivers (if needed) on each PC and they should see them fine. Just make sure that all devices are in teh same DHCP range and the same subnet. (also consider moving the PC's with printers off the router to any open switch ports on the switch)

Okay, then the question is, why does router #2 exist?

why the 2nd router?

Do you have the 2nd router connected to the switch using its WAN port? If so, there is your problem.

reconnect the router to the switch using on of the switch ports on the router. diasble the DHCP server on router 2 and you should be good to go.

Replace router #2 with a switch and let router #1 handle all IP assignments.
