Is it happening when you exit the game? Oblivion has a well known "end game" crash that occurs. It happens to me about 40-50% of the time. I haven't had it reboot however.

No, in the middle of a game. Like just now, i was playing for several hours and it just errored. And now it will not let me play any more.

i am all but positive that is is a software not hardware issue. I was just play fear and not a hickup. And then tried oblivion and it will not even let me load a game...

Have you patched the game? There is a patch available. I have had it crash mid game probably a half dozen times, but that's been over 300 hours of game time. It might be worth it to do a fresh install, patch the game, then try again.

Read these FIRST! It "might" help solve your problem.

http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=380042

For uninstalling problems, try this:

A few things to try

1.)Try this (from the Macrovsion forum):

From My Computer Go to:

C:/program files/common files

Find the file called Installshield and Right click it

Select Rename and name it installshieldold or whatever you like.

Once that file is renamed.....run the game install again and it should work fine.

2.) If that does not work

go to start - run type regedit and hit enter, click on the + sign next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, click on the + sign next to SOFTWARE, click on the + sign next to BETHESDA SOFTWORKS, right click on oblivion (if it is still there) and then delete. close the reg edit program.

Go into explorer find the C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion folder (if it is still there) and delete it.
find the folder C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\My Games\Oblivion (Substitute your username for USERNAME) and delete it (Again if it is still there)

By doing this it will delete all traces of the game from your computer and then the install should run properly.

Good luck. Hope it works out, Obliviion is really a great game. I'm currently starting my third character, going with a total degenerate this time. I've been an honorable Battlemage (Level 48) and Warrior (Level 45). Now time for a thieving, murderous scumbag.;):)
