OK so i have decided to make a Low Budget, Medium Budget and High Budget set-ups because a bunch of people keep recomending me different stuff, and i estimated my budget, but it really depends on how long i want to wait, how much money im making, and how much my parents willl let me spend lol.

Please go through my Low/Medium/High budget builds, and tell me what i should change. As of right now I'll be getting the Low Budget, but depending on how much I get payed, id like to at least get the Medium Budget and would love to get the High Budget, but if i can only get the low budget build (which was my orignal idea, thats fine)

Estimated Completion Of Build: Middle October 2006

ok i put it up there as "Alternate Gaming Computer" although it didn't save me ne more money, cost me more because what you gave me didn't include:
-monitor
-keyboard
-Windows
-Case
so yeah, if you could, make the price lower
it was pretty much my High Budget but with a few different parts. Were you trying to reconstruct the high budget?

Looks like someone can't make up their mind! (like me).

Quick advice- ditch the X1600XT if you go with the low/med builds. The 7600GT spanks it in most benchmarks I have seen for just a few more $.

Check out www.tomshardware.com and www.anadtech.com to see comparisons.

I like build 2, But I would make a few changes.

This mobo is 40 bucks less, very stable, you wont be able to overclock if that is indeed something your interested in.

So right now I'm aiming to get the Medium Budget because its got the Core 2 Duo and stuff loland its only about $100 more, I'd like to add the 7600GT in, but its an extra $70, so as of right now it will stay the Radeon X1600XT(because thats a pretty good card still right?) and if i can pull up the extra dough when it gets time ill go with the 7600GT

Looks like a solid list. You may want to switch to a DVD burner, so you can burn DVDs and CDs.

The X1600XT is a fine mid-range card.

You may want to save up a bit more for a 17" LCD, 15" is a tad small.

Careful with the language, even censored.

Looks like a good list to me now. :)

Any particular need for that audio cable? The Lite-On comes with one, and in XP, you don't need it. The IDE cable will carry the audio from the drive.

Just one thing to keep in mind - you may like a bright red case, but others probably wont. I know I wouldn't want that case (at the very least, not a red one!). ;)
(I'm not sure if you are getting this for yourself, or recommending/selling to others though)

Hey, if you still wanted to choose the Pentium D 915 processor I think it would be a great idea budget wise and performance wise. How does this setup sound? The total is just above $850 for everything after rebates... and includes a 17" monitor!

By the way, it includes a free Saphire T-shirt. :) If your budget allows it, upgrade to a Pentium D 930. Also add about $30 for some logitech speakers, a mouse, and a keyboard. Good luck.

You do not need that audio cable, period.

I recommend you have a SATA optical drive handy to install the OS if you use a 965 chipset board. IDE opticals are having boot issues.

Optical drives are CD and DVD drives.

Add this to your list: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827106039 and use it to install the OS. Then you can add in the burner. Plus having two drives lets you copy discs on the fly. :)

There are some Plextor SATA burners...but they are really expensive, and I've heard of some issues with them. Doesn't look LITE-ON has a SATA DVD-Burner yet...

Not sure when or if LITE-ON will be bring SATA DVD burners...seems kinda silly not to bring them out, I think they'd be a big success.
