Ha, redoing my computer list again. Couple of question.
New Budget £700
For a top end gaming computer, what is it to go with:
AMD AM2 Athlon 64 / Sempron (Socket 940)
or
AMD Athlon 64 / Sempron (Socket 939)
Because im confused, skt 940 AMD 2 better or worse? Id like to know one and fr all!
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core (Socket 939) - is that the best Amd have, anything better?
Is Sli really really needed? Is it worth it? Is that 2 video cards? (Please explain detailed, im in a confused mood today, and nothing is as it seems to be.)
2Gb RAM (x2 1gb) esential, or 1gb good enought until a furure upgrade? (x2 512)
Thanks.

939 for budget. And if your willing to go am2, mind as well go core 2 duo as its no comparision for the price.
See if you can swap that Kingston for some corsair value select. And get a kit. I.E 2x512mb.
Get this psu instead- FSP Sparkle AX500-A Blue Storm 500W ATX2.0 PSU (CA-005-SK)- 4th one down:

"939 for budget. And if your willing to go am2, mind as well go core 2 duo as its no comparision for the price."
So AM2 Better? And im buying off Ebuyer btw :)
"AMD Athlon 64 (ADA4200BVBOX)
X2 4200+ socket 939Dual Core 2.2ghz 512kb and 512kb Cache"
Dual core? Or not the same thing?
"See if you can swap that Kingston for some corsair value select. And get a kit. I.E 2x512mb."
I have: " Kingston 1GB DDR PC3200 400MHz Non-ECC CL3 (3-3-3) 184pin DIMM's **(Kit of 2 x 512mb)**"
"FSP Sparkle AX500-A Blue Storm 500W ATX2.0 PSU (CA-005-SK)- 4th one down:"

AM2 is very new, and still has a couple bugs. The big issue is with memory compatibility. It's really picky about the RAM you use, and you *need* DDR2-800 to have the same performance as a comparable 939 system (DDR2-800 is also more expensive compared to DDR400, despite rising DDR prices). Socket 939 is more mature and more forgiving in terms of memory.

No am2 is not better. Trying to say that there is no point in going am2. If your ready to spend that kinda money mind as well spend it on a better platform like conroe.
939 is a great stable platform for budget.
Here are the same links ebuyer.com :
I misread about the 2x512mb. My bad, but corsair is definately the way to go.

The Hiper isnt that bad. OEM'ed by Andyson, they also make alot of the sunbeam and aercool powersupplies, its based actually on a 550W unit. They tend to be right up there with fsp most of the time. But with the hiper they really cheaped out.
-Useing poor quality internals, mediocre efficiency and no PFC(basically pfc equates to cleaner power) make it a poor choice for the money.
Ebuyer doesnt have any fsps but they do have some other great choices, either one of these would power your rig nicely:
Seasonic S12 430W (http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/104478)
Antec TP2 480W (http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/90618)
Enermax FMA 535W (http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/95194)
And why in the world are you going for the top of the line Sli mobo?!?! You do know that a single 7900Gt would be a better choices versus two 7600GTs? And you do know that you need a little beefier psu to power that?
A8N5X for 50 is a very good choice. If I were you I would spend the money on some more ram instead..
