specs are in my sig.
When im playing games like fear and oblivion they are jerky. I just downloaded the newest drivers, i got the new drivers because of the jerkyness(is that a real word?) but it didn't help. My 3dmark06 score is 5058. And in oblivion i get up to 60fps. And down to around 10 or so. just walking around is jerky sometimes.
thanks

I tihnk i should have put this in video/display. Sorry.
at any rate, how can i check the temp of my video card? I think the fan on my video card is going out... it is making this nasty sound. This could be the root of my problems there. I just noticed it as i was tying the first message. So i tracked the noise do to the video card. Now what?

You've got games that can bring any current system to its knees.
Welcome to the cutting edge.

I think pam nailed it. Doesn't it stink that you can spend so much money and still find some games run like mud?
Oblivion runs pretty decently on the 360.

Try turning the resolution and detail options down in your games. Your system should be able to handle them without any jerkiness at some level.
In Oblivion, turn the water detail and the grass shadows down. Try turning off self shadows and reduce interior and exterior shadow as well. This should help. Also, BOTH of those games like more ram, 2 gigs is ideal.

The thing is, this "jerkyness" didn't start happening till recently, mainly in fear but in oblivion some as well. Games started jerking and then i noticed the fan making that odd sound.(i think it is on the way out.) what should i do about it? I still have some days that i can rma it to newegg or should i go to evga? Or option c that i have missed?
and about the 2gig of ram, i was going to get another gig but ram prices have jump 20$ for the same stuff i got since i got it.(2 weeks)
*edit* ram is back down to about what i paid for it now. with instant rebates

Set the res and color depth you want, then make sure trilinear filtering and antialiasing are disabled, then enable 2x anisotropic. Try that out.

Check your temps on everything, especially your video card. If that fan is acting up or the fins are clogged with crude then the card will overheat and cause all kinds of nastiness. Mainly, game slow down and jerkiness to an extent. If it gets too hot it'll just reboot the computer on you.
My card got clogged and overheated awhile back and caused Age of Empires III to slow to a crawl when it used to work fairly well.

how can i check the temp of my video card? The card is only 2weeks old, so i doubt crude is already built up but i will try it out.
