I used to have an MSN Icon on my desktop, but now it is just a generic Windows icon and it doesn't work for anything yet I cannot delete it. How can I get rid of this icon? Thanks for the help.
Mitch
Did you try just dragging it to the recycle bin? Or right click on it and select delete?

mdj1324 is a friend of mine that lives 3 houses down who I tried to help out with this problem. I couldn't find a way to get rid of his icon. Apparently he disposed of the parent folder from within Windows Explorer and now is stuck with a generic windows icon named MSN on his desktop. Moving it to recycle bin is not allowed, and when you right click it there is no option to "delete". Someone with some in-depth knowledge about Windows please assist! I'm assuming there will have to be some kind of tinkering with the system registry or something like that, but I'm no Windows guru. Thanks for the help.
... by the way, Hi Mitch and welcome to the forums! There are alot of highly knowledgable people here who can most likely answer any questions you can throw their way.

Try removing it with TweakUI if you have it. Or try Bryan's advice here:
