Removing Nvidia drivers in Vista RC1

I believe that the Nvidia drivers did not install correctly in my Vista RC1 installation. I want to remove and reinstall them. The problem is, I cannot figure out how. They do not show up in the Add/Remove programs box. When I go into the Nvidia directory on the hard drive and click on the "Uninstall utility" THIS (http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a327/Hi_Ho/Miscellaneous/NvidiaVistaProblem-1.jpg) is what I get. I'm afraid to try DriverCleaner Pro since that is made for XP. Any ideas?

Looks like you need to open a command prompt, browse to that location and type:

nvudisp.exe uninstall

That seems a bit crude for Vista, don't you think? I'll give it a shot but I would think that telling it to run "nvudisp.exe" from a command prompt would be the same as clicking on it in explorer.

I don't think it has anything to do with Vista. I think it has to do with NVIDA's beta drivers for Vista. They needed a quick and easy way to create drivers that are usable in Vista's environment, not necessarily user friendly. If you look at the list of commands available, it looks like nvudisp.exe can do a lot more than just uninstall things.

Perhaps when Vista becomes "mainstream" NVIDA will take the time to create a user friendly environment for their drivers.

I tried it and all I ended up with was the exact same dialog box.

Hmm... did you try putting quotations around the command?

"nvudisp.exe uninstall"

You could try using brackets like they had:

nvudisp.exe <uninstall>

Or a variation of them with and without quotations.

I'm going to reinstall the same ones. When I first installed them, they did not finish installing and I ended up with a black screen and had to restart the computer. Luckily all was well when it rebooted, until I tried a game. I got a jumbled mess. I couldn't figure out how to uninstall the drivers to start over so I ran the install program again and installed them over the top. Things are working OK except for the fact that it periodically says "Display driver has stopped responding and has successfully recovered." Also, when I try to enable anti-aliasing I get the same jumbled mess I got before. I had read the release notes for the drivers and noticed that they do not currently support AA in DirectX games but they do in OpenGL. The games I'm trying to run are both OpenGL (MOH and COD: UO).

I have one more question. Does anyone know if the Creative beta drivers for Vista work at all? When I first tried them in Vista Beta 2 they screwed everything up. I used the XP drivers and they worked fine. Now, with my new X-Fi card, I used the XP drivers and I have no option for surround sound, only 2.1 stereo. Obviously this is still a beta but I would think Creative would have created a working driver by now and that the most popular sound card in history would work correctly.
