I couldn't stop laughing... it is just so true.

I have a Myspace page, I might as well not. The only reason I have it is because friends really wanted me to make one. I haven't even looked at it in months. I definetly agree with PCWorld about the messy pages. Most of them are absolutely horrible. Because of the colors, the text is illegible.

One site I disagree on is Hotmail. I've used hotmail for about six years now and I have never had spam problems. The new interface (Windows Live Mail) is superb, the best of all the webmail I've used.

I guess I don't see the point in My Space...why would someone want an online artificial social life outside of a real social life? Real friends are people you can see eye to eye and who you go do things with in the real world.

Well most people I know that use MySpace are friends in the real world. I never got into it, obviously, but I know all the people on my friends list.

That aricle is halarious; its so accurate. I absolutely refuse to get one, not because I don't want to be one of the "conformists", but because the concept of the site is pointless. Do we really have to resort to social networking to make freinds? C'mon people!

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart did a great bit on it, heres the video:

I really am a fan of the social networking concept. It's not about making friends, but staying in contact with your many friends. Social networking in a really intricate concept; and I'm all for it... I'm just not a fan of the way myspace lets people massacre their own pages. I refuse to visit people's myspaces because 1) I can't read most of their text with the obtrusive background images... 2) music and videos just automatically start blaring sound out my speaker... and 3) the conent discussed makes people look like idiots "u r teh sexxy3st", "nic pix", etc.

Myspace is a bad site for dozens of reasons, but among the top reasons is: it's worst among social networking sites. It's web .08 not 'Web 2.0' which is where some more recent sites that have gained popularity. It's, from what I hear, got a woefully designed interface that makes doing much of anything hard. You constantly hear of viruses spreading through myspace alone!

That aside, I'm against "social networking" sites because I believe that statement in of itself is an oxymoron. "Social Networking" sites don't promote interaction, they promote just the opposite; cutting one's self off from any actual contact, or actually spending the time to get to know someone through a real conversation. That's what I think; everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and that's mine.

Yeah, myspace is a good idea, but bad implementation.

heres why social networking sites are popular and will always be popular, especially amongst the college crowd.

I have tons of friends from highschool, and from my own college that I'm not able to easily keep in contact with. It's too difficult with a busy on the go schedule and the distances. I use Facebook, and it really does make it easier to stay connected to people that otherwise you would lose touch with. Naturally I'm more of a socially inverted personality, so I'm usually terible at keeping up with people other then my immediate family and closest friends.

MY SPACE isn't as bad as LIMEWIRE when it comes to being attacked by malware and viruses. One nite, I had to kill 81 spies after my nephew had been jammin' to LIMEWIRE.

i hate myspace, have since it came out. dont have one now, dont plan on getting one in the future. i figure, why do i need 10 different ways to talk to my friends? MSN messenger is about all i need for internet chat. I also have phone numbers and know where most live... why do i need to keep track of 10 different conversations to the same person on 10 different media?

I have contacted Myspace Customer service several times and no reply... I think the site is a big joke myself... and it's full of those pron botts...thats the worst part..

Site locking is one of their best features; in fact, it should be a default feature - that's what, in my opinion, social networking is about, using the internet as a medium to express yourself and communicate with those you want to - not the whole world.

Real friends are people you can see eye to eye and who you go do things with in the real world.Ultimately, there is no such thing as "real friends"...only users!http://bestsmileys.com/sad/6.gif

I just never saw a real point to myspace... I mean my friend wanted me to sign up for it.... theres a story behind that but its long and I don't want to waste your time.

If you really need a website to contact friends that you meet over the internet and you will never meet them in real life... you need a life.

If you use it to contact friends you know in real life... ever heard of a phone?

You're not supposed to talk on a phone when in class!:)
Beyond that, it's a fad.

Beyond that, it's a fad.If I were a teacher, there would be no phone at all in class!

Did you hear about the new fad that police departments all over the country have got together to start?
It's the "wear your pants way down low fad"

The reason the cops started this fad was to make it easier to catch young criminals because when they take off running their pants fall down and they trip and fall down themselves!

This saves the tax payers alot of money because it saves the cops time when chasing young hoodlums.

I'll disagree with you there... it wasn't that long ago, I was going through a lot in my life.... a lot of issues, and the only person I could turn to was somebody 1500 miles away. This person did what nobody else would do.... listen... didn't lecture, didn't give advice or suggestions or opinions unless I asked for them.... they did what I needed and that was listen... it pulled me though a tough time when I needed it most... to me, that defines a friend. We've never met personally, but to me, that doesn't matter.

I agree, all my msn contacts are people i know well, and have met face to face. I dont add ppl randomly like some of my friends. And as for mspace, i really dont see the point.

people use the internet because it's cheaper than long distance phone calls....

You already have internet so why pay a long distance charge on top of that...well unless you use a cell phone... then in most cases it's free...

And sometimes people just dont have time to make a call and texting/messaging is easier...

besides who would you post replies here at PcMech over the phone...? you wouldnt...

besides that... you all that are replying to this (myself included) are typing... so in a way it's text meassaging.... just readable by everyone....;)

.... just readable by everyone....;)That's why talkboards make more sense, because everyone can see the solutions to problems people are having, and see the technical info that they found to help.
