I've just rescued a fully working PC with W95. I've never used 95 (went straight from 3.11 to 98). Is there an equiv of MSCONFIG that will work with 95? I copied it from my 98 machine but it didn't work.
Thanks,
Chris

You put msconfig.exe from Win98 into the System folder on 95 and it didn't work? It should. I've done it and it worked for me and Microsoft says it'll work in 95. But you can use Startup Cop which basically does the same thing as msconfig.

It will work on Win95 OSR edition not though on Win95 4.00 9.50 - first edition released the one which could be run together with Ms-DOS 6.22

I don't know about changing the icon, but I have removed AOL, Earthlink, etc. by deleting a file buried somewhere in the \program files\internet explorer\ folder. As I recall, they stuck out like a sore thumb. I deleted them and the revolving icon reverted to the stock windows one.
As far as changing the window title, it's a registry entry. I usually change it to read <b>"Microsoft Internet Explorer provided by WJWheels"</b>

Sushi this is what you want:

You won't be able to customize it:

Thanks for the input, guys 'n' gals. Kento, I'm not sure that I copied MSCONFIG to the right folder, I'll check. In the long run I think I'll take and put the W95 HDD as a slave in a W98 machine so that I can use the apps, and find a spare HDD to put in the salvaged machine - it'll do for a spare.
Cheers,
Chris.

Annoyances.org (http://www.annoyances.org/win95/) is great, I'm sure you'll fine some useful tips there.
