The subject says it all. I have 832 megs of rdram installed in my P4 system. However, it is recognizes as 512. How can I change this? It disturbs me, because I have another 256 on the way. I had 680megs in before and it recognized it. There are no error messages.

The only way that I can see that you would have 832Mb of RAM is that if you had 3x 256Mb and 1x 64Mb. You can't do this on a P4. All RAM must be run in pairs, so you will either have to purchase another 64Mb, or a 256Mb, or say the heck with it and remove the 64Mb and 256Mb completely.
Personally, I would remove it and just run the 512Mb, your system is never going to use a swapfile. Mine never does.

So while I am not getting an error message, it's still not working.

You may not get any error messages, but your system is only running on 512Mb regardless of OS until you put a second matched pair in to increase your RAM.

Fixed it; I put in another 64 and took out the extra 256.

Can you actually believe that my manual says that I can use unmatched ram?

Got it; that's what I believed before I read the manual. The manual acutally states that you can use 1 128 with 3 64's. I wonder if the manual was written by someone who ever worked on one of these. The case is sweet, though. I haven't measured it, but I have never seen an HP case this large before. It is 49cm x 49cm x 22cm or for those of you in AMERICA, like me, 19.5" X 19.5" X 8.75" with 6 expansion slots: 1 agp and 5 pci. :p
