OC'ing an e6300

Hi guys, I was thinking about getting something like this:

Gigabyte DS3
e6300
1gb Corsair XMS
250gb Seagate 7200.10
7600gt

1. How far could I overclock the e6300 with stock HSF? Do you recommend this? Or should I just wait and see if I even need to and then buy another HSF?

2. Would this be a lot better than a P4 530+Geforce 6600 which I have now? I'm not sure if the 7600gt would be a good performer, but CS is really CPU intensive, not GPU. I'm thinking since I get 60-80 FPS with what I have now I'll probably get near double that, maybe 100+.

3. What is 'Bus Speed' and how do I know what to set that to while OC'ing? All i know about is the multiplier and FSB.

1. You should be able to do quite a bit with stock hsf, just keep a CLOSE eye on temps.

2. It will tear that old setup apart :).

3. For that I suggest you look at the stickies up top, and use google. There are some great simple guides out there. Then if you have any issues we will more then happily answer them.

Have you already bought these parts or are you planning to?

I bought the parts in my signature for a server for someone else, and I plan on buying these parts for myself once I complete the server. Thanks for the fast reply.

And as for the 'Bus Speed' is that the 1066mhz? Would I change that if I were to overclock this processor?

Yes it will, changing the fsb is how overclocking happens. Conroe's have an fsb of 266mhz, quad pumped to 1066. By raising it you raise the clockspeed.

You really don't start increasing CPU temperatures when you overclock till you start raising the core voltage. The last Northwood 1.6 I overclocked to 2.13 simply by raising the bus from 100 to 133 raised the temps a whole 3 degrees C on a stock cooler.
