Well guys it is taking me a long time but I'd like to update you on the status:

1. Prepared Case (1-2 standoffs would not match the case, but that's okay)
2. Installed RAM, Video Card, and processor - man that required some force :)
3. Working on installing DVD-ROM - screws are hard to remove

I will use this as a worklog and for any questions I may have.

I hope you're assembling the core components out of the case for your first POST before you install everything into the case. Core components are the motherboard, CPU, heatsink, RAM, video card, power supply, monitor, PC case speaker.

My SATA hard drive has 3 connectors: 1 molex, 1 SATA power, and 1 SATA header.
How many power cables do I connect?

Connect the SATA Header and the SATA power!

2/5 times I've turned it on I have to give one fan a push to spin... maybe that's just rare. And this server will be on 24/7 anyway.

Which fan is it that needs to be pushed to get it going?

My 120mm front intake. I don't think it's a problem and if it is I will order a new one and a second 80mm for the back.

Where is the 120mm front fan getting it's power from? The motherboard or directly from the power supply? You want it to get direct power from the power supply, not the motherboard.

What power supply are you using? Some PSU's (like Antec's) have a 'fan only' connector. These supply variable amounts of power (more as the PSU gets hotter)...and sometimes it won't supply enough voltage to get the fan started (give it a push and it'll start) but enough to keep spinning once it's started.

Blue is right. If im not mistaken the antec's fan only supply 5v-7v at start. And some high speed or low quality fans cant start so low. So that might be an issue.

And if this is a server, might as well keep everything cranked up.

The case doesn't have an area for a standoff there. GLC this thing is solidly in place, no worries. I really need help installing the HSF.

The pictures thread. And by the way, tomorrow I am going to visit a very tech/computer savvy person who will assist me in reseating the HSF and wire management. Thanks for the advice.

Why (exactly) are you reseating the HSF and what is "wire management"? Too many cooks may spoil the broth.

Why you ask? Well I see that the 4 pin wire is wrapped once around one of the HSF pins. It is very loose and I figured I will not remove the HSF just for this.

OK, I see in the photos what appears to be the fan wiring running beneath the heatsink.

I will probably use AMD in my upcoming computer. Hoping for an easier HSF, with not much performance lost. Maybe an Opteron?
