As promised I took some pictures for you guys. Does my HSF look tight? 84C to 45C is good for me...

Lol oh no I gotta take it off again it's holding down one of my cables. The dang HSF won't come off lol.

Whoa...you've got a bit of a mess there.
Also I hope your not working on the carpet...BAD IDEA.
Its hard to tell from the photos if its on...one there blurry, two you cants see the side.

I'm having a lot of trouble taking the HSF off. Any help would be extremely appreciated :/

As I said in your other thread, remove the motherboard from the case and work on it on the table. Unlock the 4 pins by twisting them counter clockwise 1/4 turn, then pull them straight up. If you break any pins or destroy the thermal pad, you can order replacements direct from Intel - a pad is $1 and a set of 4 pins is $2.

Your cable management leaves a bit to be desired. Neatness DOES count.

Lol, well Chuch I will keep that in mind this weekend when I build another computer. Oh, the urge to build more! I'm thinking of an Opteron, but what do you think?

I think you should get this one running smoothly first :D Sort out the wires a bit and get that heatsink on their properly.

The heatsink is tightly secured. Idling around 40c.

What about load? You mentioned 84C which dosent seem quite right considering intel's thermal throttling.

Go get some small black nylon ties at the local home store and bundle those wires together. Make the turns at 90 degree angles if possible...that will look a whole lot better and make for more efficient cooling.

If you remove the heatsink from the CPU...make sure you put new thermal paste on it!

Cable management is only good if you can see them ;) JK... anyway for an update... the temps are fine, 45C/53C stock HSF. Running stable as can be. Opens windows 10 times faster than my P4. :( Too bad this thing has to run Linux and not Windows. :)

Even if you can't see them, cable management gives you peace of mind and self-assurance.

For me I sometimes spend as much time on cable management as I did on building the computer :D.

Seriously though? It really doesnt have to be anything special, just you know do a quick zip tie job and just get the cables out of the way.
