Mobo For 640

I have a brand new 640 P4 and 4 sticks of DDR2 533 - all 1 Gig. I've got all the extra stuff here and there. Anyway, all I really need is a board and a hard drive. I'm thinking about using the Foxconn 925 XE. It's only 94.00. Has anybody here used that board ? I'd like to go ahead and use this stuff and sell the system before it reaches antique status. If I don't do it now, that CPU and RAM will end up in a box (somewhere) until I'm 70.

Didn't you have problems with another Foxconn motherboard recently?

Whenever I build a computer for someone I always use top tier motherboards to avoid any potential problems. Back in 2001 I used a bunch of EPoX motherboards (middle tier motherboards) in 6 different builds and every single one of those motherboards died over the course of 3 years because of leaking caps. Lesson learned...so now I only build with ASUS motherboards.

For ten dollars more and Asus - what can I say? Yeah, I did have a problem with that Foxconn last week. Sad thing is, it was the first one. I think that it may be related to new chipset - new concept stuff. The Pentium III system that I have (and still runs) is an old DELL L600r, which was actually a Foxconn barebones. Even the case has Foxconn stamped on it. It works just like it did in October 1999 - other than having a new HD, it's all original. Even the 145 watt PSU! I did 3 805 builds this summer - all with the FC 865 board and there have been no problems. Yet, after the E6300 blow-out with the Intel/Foxconn board, I've still got cold feet. That's why I asked. The PSU on the old DELL (by the way) is also Foxconn.

I've built with the Foxconn 945G board and it works fine. I would recommend a 945-based board for that processor, the 925 is previous generation.
