It's a win98se, connected via DHCP to NT4 SP6 server. I just installed Windos XP OFFICE PROFESSIONAL . And when I shut down, the BLUISH WIN98 shut down screen just shows itself and just hanged there ? Any idea what's behind this problematic win98 'curtain' ?
And interesting enough, when I lost patient and just shut down the pc, by pressing the button. And I restarted it , no error was shown ! Amazing ! XP !

There are about a million things (slight exaggeration...) that can cause shutdown problems. There is a long list of steps to take on MS's site. My advice is just hit the button. As long as it doesn't run scandisk every time it restarts, who cares? I had a MB that shutdown fine at 66MHz FSB, wouldn't shutdown at 100MHz FSB, upgraded to WinME and it wouldn't shutdown or restart!
